Poston Butte History
Charles Poston was a western pioneer, explorer, politician, journalist, and expert at Indian affairs. He is regarded as the “Father of Arizona” because of his role in convincing Abraham Lincoln to create the territory of Arizona in 1863. Residing in Arizona and serving as it’s first delegate to the US congress, Charles discovered an Apache ruin on a hill top in Florence. Poston visualized the tower ruin of the Apache structure as a temple where Indians once conducted worship ceremonies. In tribute he dedicated his personal wealth in 1878 to constructing a pathway leading to a resurrected fire temple known as “Poston’s Butte”. In 1925, some 23 years after Charles Poston’s death, he was buried at the summit of his beloved “Poston’s Butte,” which is still stands today in Florence, Arizona and can be viewed within close proximity of the golf club.

Santa Ana pays tribute to a ‘queen’
The city unveils a monument in the Logan neighborhood honoring longtime activist Josephine ‘Chepa’ Andrade.
By DOUG IRVING The Orange County Register
SANTA ANA – A neighborhood activist who spent her life fighting for this city’s old Logan Barrio was honored today with a stone monument in a small patch of parkland she helped preserve.
The late Josephine “Chepa” Andrade was such a strong voice for the neighborhood that people took to calling her the Queen of Logan. Nearly 200 people turned out to watch city leaders unveil a new name for the neighborhood park, inscribed in stone: Chepa’s Park.
The park itself is a tribute to a small group of Logan residents, including Andrade. Years ago, the city wanted to use the half-acre of land there for a street that would have cut through the middle of the Logan Barrio.
The neighborhood fought back and eventually convinced the city to withdraw its street plan and turn the land over for a park.
On Saturday, children darted across the park grass, dancers performed on the handball courts and state and local politicians took turns paying tribute to the legacy of Chepa. County Supervisor Janet Nguyen delivered a $5,000 check to buy the park a swing set.
The park’s new sign features a carved portrait of Chepa, who died two years ago. A plaque describes her as “a tireless advocate for neighborhood improvement and involvement.”
A new sign recognizes a park in Santa Ana’s historic Logan Neighborhood as “Chepa’s Park” in honor of longtime activist Josephine “Chepa” Andrade.

City of SeaTac, Washington
City fo SeaTac has developed a Neighborhood Grant Program, which allows residents to team up with their neighbors to implement project ideas that will help improve the presentation of their neighborhood. They can now do this with the assistance of the City.
Cylex worked very closely with Terry Farden who at the time was a neighborhood volunteer. The City liked working with Terry so much that they hired him to join the SeaTac team.
Terry, thank you for the pictures. I understand that this is the first sign to be installed under the new program. You and the volunteers did a fantastic job on this project and we enjoyed working with all of you. This is the first picture that we have received with the accent lighting on the sign. It just looks great!

5’x3′ Cylex Double-Sided Sign mounted on (2) 5’x5″x5″ Cylex Post
I have included a color picture of one of the two signs as erected on the public parking facility. It certainly looks good, doesn’t it? We were very pleased with how the signs turned out. The colors are exactly the color shades we wanted as well as the texture of the sign material. Over all the quality of the signs is excellent.
The Town logo which I thought would be a difficult task, turned out far better than I expected. Whoever reproduced the logo is obviously a very talented person.
It was a pleasure talking to you Mr. Bell, as you made designing the signs a very easy and pleasant process.
